This song gets stuck in my head so much, I finally learned it (sort of) and recorded this (on my iphone). Since then I also learned that it’s the 40th anniversary of singer Ian Curtis’ death. So, in his memory, here’s my version.

Local Bands We Love, pt 3

For your web-surfing pleasure, we present some all time favorites from shows past.
Check them all out!
  • Station Wag What do you get when you cross Heart with Guns’N’Roses? You get a lead singer with pipes to die for (and bonus hilarious story-telling), backed by flying-guillotine fury. You. Will. Be. Rocked!
  • Demimonde Slumber Party Who can ever have enough sixties garage surf-punk? Core members Kim and Melissa keep it clever and killer. Riot-grrrl righteousness! Yes, please!
  • Dubious Funk rock in the house! Take some sick grooves, boss vocals and epic solos, and heat to a sizzle. They have a new single. Now, get up and dance!
  • The Underlings These awesome punks broke up a long time ago. But don’t despair! They’ve definitely landed on their punk-god feet. Guitarist Ed is now in Trouble Cuts, and bass dude David is with The Indiscretions. Lerve!
  • Dan Jones & The Squids Prolific indie garage punk singer-songwriter-guitarist Dan is always creating something new and inspiring. The garage has never been so lucky!
  • Stereo Minds This blues-rock duo holds it down, whether it’s stripped bare acoustic with hand drum, or world-class shredding with double-bass. (Fact: guitarist Austin briefly played with Boomchick. Just listen to his nasty solo on our song Operation Imperialism. 🤘)

Big thanks to all these bands, for the shows, the great work, and the friendship. Keep rocking!

Give them some love, won’t you? Please share, and comment below.

May music always bring you up when you’re down!

Local Bands We Love

Here is a list of some kick-ass local and regional bands that you should totally check out!

Been meaning to do this for a long time. Alrighty then!

In order of most recent introduction:

the Shifts.

These kids have it dialed. Watch out , they are polished, garagey, and comin at ya! Weezer meets Metric.

Pale People

Whoa. Hailing from Missoula, MT, these cats will make ya go “hmm?” and spend the next hour of your life happily glued to their original rock mastery. Neutral Milk Hotel meets Primus? Nuts!

ColdFire

Ok, disclaimer: there are other “coldfire” entities out there to confuse you. This is the indie rock music one, from Eugene!

Crazy indie-punk/new wave rockers who get hotter and hotter with every song in their set! Talking Heads meets Pearl Jam! Just, good!

Magpies

What’s in the water up in Missoula, MT? (Oh, probably just…pure water) Bass chords and sweet female/male vocal trades = tight indie rock-ness all over the place! the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Yeah!

the Indiscretions

Holy Mama Cass, Beth Ditto! Samantha got pipes and she knows how to use them! Her band more than holds it down, too, featuring an Underling amidst the Soothesayer crew. F-u-n ass shaking 60’s style punk!

This is but a small sample of the bands rockin’ our town on a weekly basis. Gonna try to keep the list goin’, cuz indie rock is a labor of ❤️.  So check these bands out and give ’em some!

Aren’t we lucky here in the Eug?

Who have you seen lately that blew you away? Tell us in the comments!

As always, thank you for flying with Boomchick!
